2 min read
The Ogun State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety (FRSC) CC Ahmed Umar has tasked motorists on defensive driving culture.
Majority of the crashes claiming lives on the road are avoidable if motorists could imbibe defensive driving culture.
CC Umar spoke in reactions to a road traffic crash that claimed the lives of seven people while five others sustained injuries on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, opposite FRSC office, today, Friday – April 29, 2022.
“The crash is avoidable if caution was put in place with the use of common sense of speed limit especially as it was raining. I enjoined motorists and other road users to always considered so seriously all the factors that guided the uses of road as this is the only solutions to stem the high rate of road traffic crashes,” CC Umar added.
The Sector Commander commiserates with the crash victims’ families, urging them to contact FRSC Ogunmakin Unit Command for details of the crash and reclaim properties recovered  from the accident scene.
The crash, according to a statement by the state’s Sector Public Education Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe, occurred at about 1940hrs (7:40pm), involving a Mazda bus with registration number LSR696XS and a truck numbered with T-4889LA.
It said the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for Medical treatment While the dead bodies were deposited at FOS  morgue Ipara.
The Sector PE attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed which led to loss of control on the part of the Mazda bus and ran into the moving truck.
