TRACE begins training, retraining of officers for effective performances

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has in line with the corporate strategic goals on how to improve personnel capacity and competence in road safety management began training and retraining of officers for effective performances on traffic management.
The capacity training, aimed at improved on effective and efficient performance of the personnel, yesterday, commenced at the Area 9 Command of the state traffic management agency.
In her welcome address, the host Area Commander Ebunoluwa Akinkunmi stressed the need for training and retraining of officers to enable them have adequate knowledge of leadership skills.
Her words: “Traffic management is dynamic and so must be the modus operandi, attitude as well as the mindset of the traffic officer. We cannot afford to stay on a spot in the moving management of traffic”, she said.
She admonished the participants to use the advantage of the training to move the agency forward.
Speaking at the event, the agency’s training and public enlightenment, Commander Abdul Olabode Monsuru enjoined the staff to be of good conduct, especially while discharging their duties and to also cultivate a positive attitude to work.
He appealed to them to always work in collaboration in accordance with the ethics of the job and avoid whatever that could tarnish image of the agency.
Commander Abdul also emphasized importance of continual learning, stressing that the illetrates of the 21st century is not those who cannot read or write but those who refuse to learn in this world of change.
“Learning is relatively a permanent change in behavioral attitude which reflects in one’s life.
“Whatever TRACE Officers do is a reflection of their training and learning which the public will assess whether they are capable of being true public officers or not”.

Also speaking, Area 4 Commander, Adekunle Ariyo Ajibade, urged the officers to emulate the attitude of the TRACE Corps Commander/CEO, Abdulfatai Olaseni Ogunyemi whose diligence to work has no rival.
“Our job as traffic officers is humanitarian. This is what people, as well as government will see, appreciate and take us serious. If you don’t take your job serious, you cannot expect compensation either from government or individuals.
“Traffic job is not all about making revenue on the roads for the government at the expense of accident victims or traffic offenders, but serious humanitarian job to assist people on the roads, in all manners”, he said.
