Gov Abiodun urged to Intervene in Itele-Ota Obaship tussle
The Adogun family of Itele-Ota in Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to Intervene in ongoing obaship tussle to forestall any act that could lead to the break down of law and order in the area.
Speaking in a press briefing organised by the family in Ayobo-Ipaja, Lagos, the head of the family, Chief Taoreed Dada, accused Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege of being behind the obaship crisis in the community, warning Mr Ademola Eletu Asorota to desist from parading himself as the Oba-elect of Itele Ota.
He said the community is yet to elect anyone to fill the vacant stool of Onitele of Itele since the demised of late Oba Musa Taofeek, who died on January 5, 2018.
According to the patriarch, selection of Kings are primarily responsibilities of Kingmakers and not for any unknown groups of people to cause crisis in the ancient town.
The family, claiming to be law abiding citizens pledged to continue promoting peaceful co-existence amongst the residents in the community.
Meanwhile, Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, on August 8,
2021, issued a warning to the self acclaimed oba elect and all parties involved in the kingship crises to stop ongoing actions pending the delivery of the judgement of a suit on the matter before the court.
