OGUN: FRSC Again, Goes After Traffic Offenders, Try Erring Drivers Through Mobile Court in Ifo

In the bid of continuing curbing bad behaviour among drivers on the highway, Ifo Unit Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, yesterday, October 15, 2024 organized a mobile court to try erring drivers.
The court proceeding was presided by his Worship Arogundade o. a senior Chief magistrate Ewekoro Division of Ogun State Judiciary.
A total of 19 traffic offenders were apprehended, two (2) were discharged 16 were prosecuted accordingly and paid their fines
The most prevalent offences ranged from overloading (OVL); Light/Sign Violation (LSV); Seat Belt Violation (SUV); FIRE Extinguisher Violation (FEV) among others.
While Commenting on the operation, Ogun Sector Commander, CC Akinwunmi Fasakin, applauded the FRSC personnel for the success of the operation which will definitely have a positive impact in the reduction of RTC.
He reiterated FRSC’s commitment to continue enforcing traffic rules and prosecuting erring motorists to improve safety situation on the roads.
CC Akinwunmi admonished motorists to drive cautiously, ensure full maintainance of their vehicles and imbibe good driving culture at all times, especially now that it is still raining and high volume of activities for the yuletide season is about to start.
“All motorists should ensure their tyres and wipers, lights are in good condition, avoid overloading, excessive-speeding, drunk driving, distractions, fatigue, night traveling, wrongful overtaking, lane indiscipline and always fasten seat belts while behind the wheels,” CC Akinwunmi, added.
He enjoined passengers to always caution their drivers whenever they attempt to break traffic rules and regulations.
He appealed to all the staff to be creative in evolving strategies and initiatives to reduce the rate of road traffic crashes and fatalities during this ember months period. “They should be more dedicated to their duties, be disciplined and be civil to the members of public while discharging their duties,” CC Akinwunmi.
The Unit Commander, ACC Timothy U. Meeme, vowed that he and the Command’s personnel would continue intensify great efforts towards the actualisation of the Corporate Strategic Goals of the Corps which is summed in trending down Road Crashes and creating a safer motoring environment.
