CC Ganiyu Hamzat Resumes As FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Tasks Personnel On Professionalism, Discipline

It was a warm reception yesterday, October 7, 2024 from both Regular and Special Marshals to Corps Commander Ganiyu Kehinde Hamzat as he resumed of as new Sector Commander of Lagos State Headquarters of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The official event was held at the Lagos Sector Command Headquarters. It began with the inspection of quarter guard in the presence of the senior officers and Special Marshals. This symbolizing a unity and commitment to the shared vision of enhancing road safety across the state.
CC Hamzat took the baton of leadership after CC Patrick Davou, who retired a week ago having serving the agency for 28 years meritoriously.
Corps Commander Hamzat is known to be a dedicated officer and has served in different capacities ranging from Unit Head of Operations, Unit Commander, Corridor Commander, Zonal Head of Operations and still counting.
While address pressmen, he outlined his vision for the Command, focusing on the core values of civility, diligence, and dedication. He emphasized the importance of not only upholding these values but also ensuring their application in day-to-day operations.
“We must be more civil in our interactions with the public, diligent in carrying out our duties, and unwavering in our dedication to safeguarding road users in Lagos State. We will dig deep in using FRSC digitalization such as body camera, breathalyzer, speed detectives which is an innovative tools developed by the FRSC to enhance road safety, provide convenient services to the public and as well reduce road traffic crashes. The welfare of my staff will also paramount to me.
He reiterated FRSC commitment to safer road, urging motorists to avoid last minutes rushing in ember months, saying the last four months of the year usually characterized with high volume of activities thereby causing road traffic crashes. “What you have not achieved from January till now, is October to December that you will have it? They should try to understand that their family loves them.”
“We would use both the state and federal laws to enforce road traffic rules and regulations. We would use the necessary sticks and would give the necessary carrots when necessary. We will continue to partner with other sister agencies including other relevant stakeholders to ensure discipline and to make Lagos a better place to live,” CC Hamzat, added.
While appreciating the officers and men for the good job they have been doing, called for more dedication and cooperation to achieve the the Command’s setting goals. He added that FRSC is looking for a way of ensuring that crashes result to zero death and this need more working together to achieve it.
He reiterated that the safety of road users would be his top priority, calling on officers and men including the Special Marshals to be the role models of discipline and professionalism.
He noted that the behavior of officers in the field often influences public perception of the Corps, urging everyone to show respect and kindness in all dealings. Civility, he said, does not undermine the authority of the Corps but strengthens its ability to enforce the law with integrity.
