TRACE Vows Effective Traffic Management, Enforcement Across Road Construction Areas In Ogun

The Ogun State Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has applauded the federal and state governments for the construction of modern highway from Abeokuta to Idiroko and other major roads within his metropolis.

It’s TCC/CEO, Cdr (Dr) Abdulfatai Olaseni Ogunyemi, while assuring the governments, said the agency is determined to ensure safety measures are observed in the construction areas, saying this would be done through effective traffic management and enforcement.

Cdr Ogunyemi stated this while inspecting the road construction areas from Abeokuta – Idiroko road. He expressed satisfaction with the commitment made by the construction companies to observe safety standards on the construction sites.

The traffic management expert frowned at the rate of which motorists created illegal parking spaces after the drainages in conjunction with highways traders, thereby narrowing the ever-busy expressway and as well complicating the smooth operations of the construction companies. He noted that, henceforth, whoever is caught with this bad attitude would made to face the the full wrath of the law.

“TRACE is the only Traffic Management agency Ogun State saddled with the mandate of ensuring that state roads are safer for  users, hence we will ensure that road users are saved from undue hardships either from the public or the construction companies. The highways must free from congestions.

“I have directed all  TRACE operatives across all roads/corridors within the state to ensure full enforcement against all traffic offences  such as obstruction/illegal parkings, road trading, lane indiscipline, wrongful overtaking and as well as excessive speeding, as well as recklessness or bad driving under the influences of alcohol as ascertained, which can easily lead

 to road traffic crashes as the work is ongoing.

“TRACE in discharging its responsibilities would continue to collaborate with the State Ministry of Transport and other sister agencies to ensure safety measures are adhered to on the construction areas,” Cdr Ogunyemi, said.

In addition, he urged the construction companies to provide standard and appropriate road traffic signs and ensure uniform and adequate signages are provided to guide the motorists, while urging motorists to embark on defensive driving culture while approaching where road construction is ongoing to avoid unnecessary traffic crashes.
