The Alabirun of Ikaare Kingdom in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, Oba (Dr) Kayode Akinyemi (JP), has appealed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to provide infrastructural facilities that will  bring development and aid better living conditions of the residents in the community.
Among the facilities the Kabiyesi mentioned include hospital or equiped health centre, school and construction of link roads.
The monarch stated this in a press conference at his palace, which was organized as part of a week long programme to celebrate the Kabiyes’s  30 years on throne.
“We shall be grateful if Executive Governor of Lagos State can come to our aid with regards to providing us with adequate socio-economic and cultural facilities.
“I, with the support of my chiefs have been doing our best in the area of security, guiding and counselling of our children, providing enough land for facilities and ensuring quality education and skills acquisition for our children. We didn’t allow any youth roaming about doing nothing, because an idle hands is the devil’s workshop.
“I want the state government to pay utmost attention to our school children. They should also be the beneficiaries of what others are enjoying. Infact, I’ve been buying boat in ensuring the children get to school. I just bought 40 capacity boat that can be convey the children to school free of charge to ensure no one is left at home while others are in school.
“Before I became oba, this community produced only few graduates but now, I thank God that we have huge number of sound graduates that can fill any position in both government and private parastatals. Our youth should been enjoying  dividends of democracy by extending slots for employment anytime the state is introducing an employment scheme.
“I will be so happy if federal government can enact laws to make traditional rulers relevant and regain their lost dignity. I want,” Oba Akinyemi, added.
He decried so worrisome as politicians highjacked the role of obas in government. “Traditional rulers are the closest to the people, hence there is a need for the Federal Government to enact laws that will make them regain their pride of place.
According to Oba Akinyemi, his vision for Ikaare is a rebirth of the community as he promised to continue to forge a cordial link with government, investors, Community Development Associations (CDA), companies, industries, agencies and other communities to improve development. “I always guarantee mutual relationships with all the ethnic groups that cohabit in the community and I enjoy total co-operation from them all”, Oba Akinyemi. All hands are on deck to make the 30th coronation anniversary celebrations memorable,” Oba Akinyemi, said.
