A Lagos resident, Abraham Oresanya has narrated how his hard earn N326,000, paid for the purchase of two Lagos-Abuja tickets, has been hanging between Arik Air and First Bank since June 18.
Oresanya explained that when he made a payment of the N326,000 to Arik Air via Paystack in June, the airline did not issue him a ticket.
“I made payments for two tickets for a Lagos-Abuja flight and was issued a PNR number. When I paid, a ticket was not issued because they claimed the PNR number had expired. I emailed Arik Air, and the airline told me to go to my bank and request a cashback,” he said.
“I did as advised by the airline, but the First Bank staff member who attended to me said the only way I could get a refund was to request it from Arik Air, as the transaction was successful at their end.

“After leaving the bank, I lodged complaints with Arik Air again, using the feedback option provided on the airline’s website. After filling out the form, the airline responded to him via email, telling him to go back to the bank. I am tired of the back and forth. I really need my money,” he lamented.
When FIJ emailed Arik Air on Monday, they responded with: “Kindly be informed that chargebacks are logged from the bank regardless of whether the transaction was successful or not. Abraham Oresanya should proceed to his bank and insist on filling out a dispense error form to log the failed transaction claim through his bank against Arik Air via Payment Gateway.
“Should his bank claim to have logged the transaction, we request that he provide us with evidence of the dispense error form. Thank you for your understanding.”
On Wednesday, Oresanya visited a First Bank branch again. The staff member who responded to him said the bank had no platform to report such an issue.
“I was told to write a letter. They insisted that there was no platform on their system to report such cases and that cashback was used for failed transactions. Their manager told me they would try to intervene and seek guidance from their head office. Arik Air is just trying to play games,” said Oresanya.
