Lagos Residents Berate LAWMA, Still Dumping Waste Into Drainages, Rainwater

It’squite unfortunate that Lagos State inhabitants still embarked in illegally duping of refuse in the drainages despite the advocacy, sensitization or rigorous campaign of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in compliance with the directive of its Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, calling on residents to observe proper disposes of refuse, management practices, best personal and domestic hygiene to curb unsuspecting flood and the spread of rampaging cholera.
Some the residents caught guilty of this indiscipline including a man and a woman captured at the entrance of a black gate located at No. 2 Akewukewe Street, beside Ikate Local Government in Ijesha Surulere, dumping a blue drum of waste into the rainwater as the heavy downpour continues in Lagos on Wednesday,
They have taken a bold step to dumping their waste into the rainwater.
This was seen while conducting a random check on social media.
A man and a woman were seen at the entrance of a black gate located at No. 2 Akewukewe Street, beside Ikate Local Government in Ijesha Surulere, dumping a blue drum of waste into the water.
An X user with the username @adetutuadeoye3 posted, “These people just poured out their waste into the street water. This is No. 2 Akewukewe Street, beside Ikate Local Government in Ijesha Surulere.”
To serve as a deterrent to others, the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has sealed off the aforementioned apartment.The State’s Government has appealed to Lagosians to keep calm over the flash flood caused by the torrential rainfall experienced throughout the state.
