No fewer than 35 persons have recorded killed while 146 others sustained various degrees of injuries in 49 road crashes in Ogun State roads between June 1 to 27, 2024,  the state Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CC Anthony Uga, has said.
These avoidable crashes and fatalities are not acceptable and will continue to be unacceptable by FRSC. The worrisome situation and the ugly trend must be reversed, hence, motorists must avoid excessive speed, overloading, distractions, route violation (one-way), wrongful overtaking, drunk driving as much as possible and steer clear of night trips due to the perennial dangers that come with it especially during this rainy season and even beyond.
He decried worrisome as most of the RTCs were still causing by human errors despite FRSC’s public enlightenment and enforcement on the infractions of motorists while behind the wheels.
He implored motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations to minimise unnecessary loss of lives on the highways.
“The FRSC want to enjoin motorists to reduce their speed and also install speed limit devices in  their vehicles to reduce fatality rates in case of accidents. They should refrain from errors responsible for road traffic crashes. We should all maintain the slogan of “safer road, fuller lives”, CC Uga, added.
He reiterated the corps’ commitment to collaborate with other sister agencies to make Nigeria roads safer for the motoring public.
