TRACE To Have Zero Tolerance For Route Violation ‘One Way’ On Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) on Monday, July 1, declared its zero tolerance for route violation popularly known as ‘one way’ at Iyana Ilogbo area on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

This was expressed at a public enlightenment campaign embarked upon by the agency’s Ijako Unit Command under the leadership of Ogun West Area Commander, Cdr Adekunle Ajibade

Leading the campaign at the ever busy expressway, Ijako Unit Commander, Cdr Aduroja Ariyo, said: There was no reason for driving against traffic at this failed portion since the road has been filled with hardcore gravel and stones, making it motorable for all types of vehicles without any encumbrance.

“TRACE Operatives attached to this Command, over the weekend went extra miles to get palliative to filled the failed portions especially at the Iyana-Ilogbo axis on this Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway with hard core gravel and stones.

“This onerous task of making road safe and passable to motorists would not have been achieved, but for the assistance of Nigerian Founderies Limited, through its Manager, Dr Cynthia Abima and Tipper Garage Owode-Ijako, through the Chairman, which provided free tippers to transport the gravel and stones provided by Nigerian Founderies Limited to the failed portions.

“The effort is in compliance with the directive of TRACE Commander/CEO Prince ‘Seni Ogunyemi, that all commands must solicit for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of all organisations within their jurisdictions to assist where necessary.”

Cdr Aduroja urged other corporate organizations to emulate the kind gesture of the Nigerian Founderies Limited and Tipper Garage Owode-Ijako to guarantee safer road for all users which it the main target of TRACE, saying series of accidents have been recorded due to ‘one way’ driving, wrongful overtaking and excessive speed leading to killing of travellers and passers-by.

This unfortunate occurrences, according to her had prompted communities in the area to flood the TRACE Agency with SOS petitions, urging it to make driving against the traffic a taboo on the road.

The Unit Commander also urged the general motoring public to abide by traffic rules and regulations, adding that safe and responsive driving is a task for all and sundry.
