EID-EL KABIR/OJUDE-OBA: FRSC Urges Motorists To Obey Traffic Rules

Ogun State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has stressed the need for motorists to obey all traffic rules and regulations as the sallah and Ojude-Oba celebration approaches.
Ijebu Ode Unit Commander, ACC Muffy Adeyinka Ajayi who spoke while addressing pressmen, on behalf of the State Sector Commander, CC Anthony Uga, in Ijebu-Ode, said: “As the sallah celebration and Ojude-Oba approaching and the need to tackle reckless driving, FRSC is collaborating with other security and safety agencies to ensure that all traffic offenders are tried and penalised.
“We are appealing to all motorists to obey all traffic rules and regulations during the Sallah and Ojude-Oba celebrations.
“The Corps has mandated that its personnel should cooperate with other law enforcement agencies that would be deployed to control traffic during the festivities.
“FRSC management had ordered the staff to checkmate critical offences such as over-speeding, overloading, making calls or sending text messages while driving, amongst other traffic offences. All recalcitrant traffic violators would be apprehended and sanctioned in accordance with road traffic rules.
“We have began an enlightenment programme at motor parks for drivers and passengers to know their rights, especially to caution the drivers when on a trip. The Command have deployed both Regular and Special Marshals with operational equipment in the categories of radar guns, breathalysers to put a check on drunk driving, over-speeding and to ensure free flow of traffic.
“Other equipment deployed are patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow truck and bikes to all critical corridors and other roads across the length and breadth of the state.”
ACC Ajayi affirmed the Corps stand to arrest and prosecute any driver found guilty of drunk driving, overloading of vehicles especially with goods, humans and animals, use of worn out tyres, lane indiscipline, excessive speed, wrongful overtaking, noting that these factors do not only pose a threat to the life of the driver, but also to the lives and properties of all road users – motorists, pedestrians, and even animals. “All transport stakeholders must join hands with FRSC and road traffic management to put and end bad driving behaviours in the country,” he added.
