FRSC RS2 Organises Seminar For Personnel Over Incessant Knockdowns, Attacks

By OLALEKAN AYENI – The Zone RS2 of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has organised a workshop for its operatives aimed at fostering solutions to the incessant knockdown of its personnel by reckless and aggrieved motorists while on operations.
Presiding on the seminar with the theme: “The patrolman and his security”, Ogun State Sector Commander, CC Ahmed Umar, who doubled as the Acting Zonal Commander, stressed the need for the workshop as it would enhance and improve the knowledge including the patrol team’s operational capacity with the regard of finding solutions to incessant knocking down and attacking while on duty.
CC Umar attributed some of the causes of incessant knockdowns and attacks to lack of in-depth knowledge of patrol positioning, disobedience to standard operating procedure and inadequate supervisions.
He recommended that all intelligence operatives should be more proactive as regards operational activities, more adequate of patrol roasters, train and retraining of patrol teams and offering of incentives to patrol teams to reduce desperation.
Others mentioned include patrol operatives should always be fair, firm and friendly while on duty, strengthen relationship between FRSC and sister agencies and that all patrol operatives should have good knowledge of patrol routes and familiar with their host communities.
CC Umar warned motorists and aggrieved public against attacking the Corps’ officials while on their lawful duty, adding that, whoever caught with this bad attitude would be arrested and prosecuted.
Key lecturer at the event include: Lagos State Sector Commander, CC Babatunde Farinloye who delivered lecture on “FRSC Standard Operating Procedure: An antidote to operational hazards amongst patrol teams.”
Zonal Legal Officer DCC B.O. Nnamani, delivered lecture on “Legal implications of actions and Inactions in operational activities, a cursory appraisal.” While “Incessant knockdown and attack on patrol team, a way forward” was delivered by the Zonal Intelligence Officer, DCC S.A. Moshood.
Others in attendance include the Chief Host, DCC Anthony Daudu, Unit Heads of Operations and Outpost Commanders in Zone RS2 which comprises of Lagos and Ogun states.
