TRAIN-BRT CRASH: FRSC Cautions Motorists Against Disobedience To Railways Crossing Rules

The Lagos State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Babatunde Farinloye, has warned motorists and other road users against floating the railway crossing rules and regulations.
The Sector Commander gave the warning when visited the scene of crash involving a moving train and Lagos State staff bus (BRT) at PWD railway crossing, along Agege Motor Road, Lagos State.
The crash, in a press statement by the Command’s Public Enlightenment Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, disclosed that the crash involved Lagos State Government Staff Marcopolo bus with registration number 04A-48LA and a moving train on Thursday morning, along Agege Motor Road corridor at 7.45am.
Farinloye commiserates with the families of the dead and also wishes the injured quick recovery and the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.
He commended all first responders like FRSC, Nigeria Police, LASEMA, LASTMA for prompt rescue of the victims and promised that the crash will be investigated.
The Commissioner of Police CP Idowu Owohunwa, addressing the newsmen alongside Heads of Agencies present at the crash scene confirmed the incident and admonished motorists to always give way to train at all railway level crossing.
Olohunwa said the injured were receiving treatment at LASUTH.
The crash left seven people dead while 84 others sustained injuries.
