SO SAD: Seven Die, 84 Injured As BRT Bus Collides With Moving Train in Lagos
1 min readToday, Thursday–Mach 9, has been tagged as black Thursday, following a crash that occurred between a moving train and BRT bus in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The tragedy, INFORMATION CARRIER, gathered, killed no fewer than seven people while 84 others sustained degree of injuries in the head on collision of the bus with the train.
The bus driver, it was learnt penetrated the rail tracks without observing normal caution, leading the train to run-over the bus and drag it hundreds metres with its passengers.
The incident occurred at the Sogunle rail crossing leading, en-route Adekunle Fajuyi Way in Ikeja during the early morning rushing hour.
The train was said to be northbound and collided shortly after a routine stop at the major terminal in Oshodi.
The representative of National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, said both the dead and injured victims have been taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
Majority of the victims were staff of Lagos State Government.
This media platform also gathered that the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has visited the hospital where the victims have been deposited for proper medical attention. He commiserate with the victims’ families over the ugly incident.
