TRACE, VIS Receive Applaud At Gov Abiodun Re-election Campaign

-Rolls Out General Election Duties

By OLALEKAN AYENI – The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) and the state’s Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) on Tuesday, February 21, 2022, received an applause from political stalwarts, motorists and other road users for enforcing the road traffic laws that  enable Governor Dapo Abiodun and his Deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele have a smooth re-election campaign in Ota.

The agencies, led by the TRACE Corps Commander/Chief Executive Officer, Prince Olaseni Ogunyemi and VIS Ogun West Zonal Commander, Engr Oluwatoyin Olugbenga and others, positioned themselves in all critical roads within Ado/Odo-Ota Local Government Area to ensure free-flow of traffic.
Cdr Ogunyemi, who is so passionate in safer road for all, came down to Ota from Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State as early as 10am to ensure thorough supervision of the exercise.
The traffic management personnel’s physical appearance on the road forced both motorists okada riders, tricyclists to adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations which provided smooth grand finale political campaign to the governor and other candidates.
Cdr Ogunyemi, said the agency will ensure free-flow of traffic across the state throughout the election period and beyond.
A driver, Luqmon Olakunle, while commending TRACE for the efficient performances on daily basis, said the traffic snarl on Idiroko expressway, especially Oju-Ore could have been so terrible if not the visibility of the TRACE personnel. “The fear of arrest caused the free-flow of traffic”, he added.
Cdr Ogunyemi has rolled out the operation of the TRACE personnel during the 2023 general elections. He said: “The agency would collaborate with other sister agencies to form a formidable significant workforce aimed at ensuring free and fair elections in the state.”
He itemized the duties to be stringent enforcement during the period of election; synergizing with other sister agencies to ensure orderliness during and after the election period; assisting to control work flow and monitor the progress of election through different departments in tracking suspicious movement and provide adequate information to relevant authority as witnessed in locations and on roads and to place on standby rescue equipment for quick response to emergency traffic challenges before, during and after the elections.
Other duties include: To ensure that vehicles with voting materials get to the location (venue of voting) without any hindrance; to collaborate and conduct stop and search check on any vehicular movement before, during and after the election period with the assistance of the armed personnel and to perform any other duties as may be duly assigned for the success of the general elections.
