TRACE Orders Personnel To Begin Road Safety Advocacy In Religious Homes, Garages

By OLALEKAN AYENI – Worried about the persistency of road traffic crashes, the Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Cdr Abdufatai Olaseni Ogunyemi has mandated all the agency’s Area and Divisional Commanders to commence the vigorous road safety awareness campaigns in religion centres like churches and mosques.
He said the advocacy should also extend to all commercial transport garages which aimed at ensuring motorists, motorcycle riders, tricyclists and other road users be more educated on rules and regulations guided the use of road.
In line with the Corps Commander’s directives, the Area 4 Commander, Cdr Adekunle Ariyo Ajibade have ordered all the Department of Public Enlightenment Officers to commence visiting the religious homes and garages to carry out the road safety advocacies.
“We have plan to go deep on road safety awareness in churches, mosques, garages and schools in accordance with the Corps Commander’s directives to get across to vast majority of motorists in the warning against road abuse.
“This, we believed would further enable the road users be more educated on traffic rules. TRACE has also engaged in training teachers for the purpose of training school pupils on how to cross the road safely. sensitising road users is to educate them on how to pay attention to the road safety rules and regulation so as to prevent road crashes.”
Commander Ajibade noted that the agency had always been warning motorists, especially the commercial drivers against over-speeding and disobeying traffic rules and regulations while behind the wheel.
He warned the commercial and private motorists against reckless driving, speeding and other forms of unsafe road activities which could endanger their lives.
