Ogun FRSC Tasks Trucks, Tankers On Maximum Safety Standard

The Ogun State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CC Ahmed Umar has appealed to articulated vehicle owners especially trucks and tankers to ensure maximum safety standard of their vehicles before embarking on a journey.
He said all fuel tankers are expected to engaged on maximum safety standard in accordance with traffic law before hitting the road.
CC Umar disclosed this as a reaction to a fuel tanker that exploded in Mowe area of Ogun State on Sunday night.
He said the crash occurred at about 2210,00hrs (10:10pm) on Lagos-Ibadan expressway around Lotto. He added that the lonely crash involved an AGO laden truck without registration number, saying the ugly incident left one person with serious injuries among the two persons involved.
He explained that the suspected cause of the crash was mechanical deficiency that resulted to fire outbreak.
FRSC rescue team and men of the fire service were able to put off the fire and removed the crash vehicle off the road for free traffic flow.
Eyewitness account said the tanker caught fire near a First Bank building located along the Mowe area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
