Fasten seatbelts while driving reduce fatality rates – FRSC

By IGE ADEKUNLE – The Itori Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) ACC Shamaki Yerima has harmed on the importance of fasten vehicle’s seatbelts while driving on the road.
He said the use of seatbelt while driving reduce fatalities rate should any road crashes.
ACC Yerima disclosed this while chatting with some journalists in his office in Itori, Ogun State.
He stressed the need for motorists to always use their seatbelts because their lives matter as they also contributed to the national economy.
He noted that the level of fatalities are always lower in road crashes when motorists used seatbelts.
“There is high tendency that people will be thrown out of the vehicle when accident happened due to the pressure, this resulted to fatalities and death sometimes.”he said.
The unit Commander said most of the road crashes were avoidable if only motorists could adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
He noted that human nature has the tendency of flouting traffic regulations, adding that motorists need to change their behaviours when on the road.
Yerima also appealed to motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations so as to stem road crashes in the state.
He, however, enjoined drivers to always ensure that they and  passenger in front seat use their seatbelts to avoid being arrested by the FRSC.
